Copyright for Creativity

*Call to Co-Sign Open Letter Ahead of27 April EU Ambassadors' Meeting*

*Deadline to sign-on: 24 April 2018 CoB*

Dear contact

In the past you've co-signed open letters on the copyright reform or
indicated you want to help #FixCopyright, that's why today we're
calling on you!

*On 27 April 2018, the European Member State Ambassadors will meet to
discuss the copyright reform*, as the Bulgarian Council Presidency is
trying to force a political decision onto Member States, at a time when
the European Parliament just delayed their vote again, now to 20-21
June. More background information here
<http://copybuzz.com/copyright/eu-member-states-are-getting-steamrolled-on-by-the-bulgarian-presidency/>
.

In light of this, we're organising this open letter initiative to ask
the EU Member State Ambassadors to refrain from moving forward on the
copyright reform without additional discussions at expert level, seeing
that the proposals on the table could have severe unintended
consequences for fundamental rights and the possibilities to create and
innovate in the EU.

Please find here the *draft open letter

and

(updates
as we go). *The deadline to sign-on to the letter is Tuesday 24 April
2018 CoB.* *You can simply sign-on by replying to this email (please
include your logo). We count on your support!*

As this letter is addressed to the EU Member State Ambassadors we have
refrained from going into technical details, and tried to stick to high
level messages. The content of the letter itself will not be amended for
the sake of time and conciseness unless someone spots a typo or an
English mistake.

Our November 2017 open letter
<http://copybuzz.com/copyright/november-2017-open-letter-eu-reform/>
brought together 85 signatories. This time we want to send an even
stronger signal. Therefore, we're aiming to gather more than 100
signatories. *Please do not only lend your support to this initiative,
but also spread the word about it in your networks and encourage other
organisations to join our effort to #FixCopyright!*
